Narrative:
Inside FAF at published MDA in VMC, the approach controller stated he had a low altitude alert on my aircraft. I stated that I was VFR and had the airport in sight and wanted to cancel IFR. He never asked for my indicated altitude. The current WX was about 1500 ft overcast and 10+ mi visibility.
