Narrative:

On taxi in, #1 engine was reported as having a large fireball and a large amount of smoke. We were not aware until crash fire rescue equipment had arrived at aircraft and passenger had already been deplaned. We, the flight crew, were literally the last to know. Ramp personnel gathered around the aircraft and pointed and used unknown hand signals to communicate what was happening. Operations dispatched crash fire rescue equipment and tried to raise us on company frequency, but we were on ramp frequency.
