Narrative:

The weight and balance was performed by our station in scl. Our flight engineer verified the numbers and weight on the form. We figured our legal takeoff weight based on this information. On takeoff, as I rotated the aircraft, I noticed that the nose was heavy and that it took unusual trim to balance the aircraft. The aircraft felt heavier than what was posted on the weight and balance form. I requested upon arrival in miami that all of the freight be weighed. 2 pallets were found to have used kilo weights instead of pounds. The aircraft really weighed 8224 more pounds than reported on the weight and balance that was reported on the form by the scl station. The aircraft was overloaded. In the future, I feel all weights should be verified by several people so this condition does not repeat itself.

Title: B747 DEPARTED OVERWT AT SALALAH OMAN.

Narrative: THE WT AND BAL WAS PERFORMED BY OUR STATION IN SCL. OUR FE VERIFIED THE NUMBERS AND WT ON THE FORM. WE FIGURED OUR LEGAL TKOF WT BASED ON THIS INFO. ON TKOF, AS I ROTATED THE ACFT, I NOTICED THAT THE NOSE WAS HVY AND THAT IT TOOK UNUSUAL TRIM TO BAL THE ACFT. THE ACFT FELT HEAVIER THAN WHAT WAS POSTED ON THE WT AND BAL FORM. I REQUESTED UPON ARR IN MIAMI THAT ALL OF THE FREIGHT BE WEIGHED. 2 PALLETS WERE FOUND TO HAVE USED KILO WTS INSTEAD OF LBS. THE ACFT REALLY WEIGHED 8224 MORE LBS THAN RPTED ON THE WT AND BAL THAT WAS RPTED ON THE FORM BY THE SCL STATION. THE ACFT WAS OVERLOADED. IN THE FUTURE, I FEEL ALL WTS SHOULD BE VERIFIED BY SEVERAL PEOPLE SO THIS CONDITION DOES NOT REPEAT ITSELF.
