Narrative:

I was on a vector SID departing slc to lgu. My clearance was: cleared to lgu, jazzz 2 departure, V21 ogd, then as filed, 10000 ft. We were level at 10000 ft and on a vector of 300 degrees. We flew through V21. I turned to a heading of 360 degrees to intercept V21. I misunderstood the clearance - I thought I was on a vector to intercept V21, but I was not. The controller's clearance was only to 'fly heading 300 degrees', not 'fly heading 300 degrees and join V21.' I have enclosed a copy of the SID.

Narrative: I WAS ON A VECTOR SID DEPARTING SLC TO LGU. MY CLRNC WAS: CLRED TO LGU, JAZZZ 2 DEP, V21 OGD, THEN AS FILED, 10000 FT. WE WERE LEVEL AT 10000 FT AND ON A VECTOR OF 300 DEGS. WE FLEW THROUGH V21. I TURNED TO A HDG OF 360 DEGS TO INTERCEPT V21. I MISUNDERSTOOD THE CLRNC - I THOUGHT I WAS ON A VECTOR TO INTERCEPT V21, BUT I WAS NOT. THE CTLR'S CLRNC WAS ONLY TO 'FLY HDG 300 DEGS', NOT 'FLY HDG 300 DEGS AND JOIN V21.' I HAVE ENCLOSED A COPY OF THE SID.
