Narrative:

I departed oak on a flight with 2 passenger. I informed the controllers that we were nwbound for a local tour. When finished, I notified bay approach of my intention to return to oakland, and they told me to climb to 2500 ft, fly to the mormon temple, then make right traffic for runway 27R (the normal procedure). After reaching the temple, a different controller issued instructions to fly to the approach end of runway 29, maintain 2000 ft and proceed toward the san mateo bridge. The controller was very busy and I assumed this routing was the result. I did as instructed, expecting further instructions, when the controller called (paraphrasing) 'descend to 1400 ft, radar service terminated, squawk VFR.' I asked what was going on. The controller asked 'you're landing at san carlos, right?' I replied no, I was landing at oakland. He told me to do a 180 degree turn, descend to 1400 ft, and call the tower. He also said I was in class B airspace. I do not know for sure that I was. I believe the primary error was the controller's in not handing me off properly or verifying my destination. However, as I was in the vicinity of my destination airport, I was not adequately monitoring my position relative to the sfo class B airspace. I was expecting to be turned back to oakland momentarily. When I received the rerouting, I could have questioned it, and resolved the situation then.

Title: O90 CTLR INCORRECTLY ASSUMES ACFT HDOF IS PROCEEDING TO SQL INSTEAD OF PLT'S MADE-KNOWN INTENTIONS OF OAK.

Narrative: I DEPARTED OAK ON A FLT WITH 2 PAX. I INFORMED THE CTLRS THAT WE WERE NWBOUND FOR A LCL TOUR. WHEN FINISHED, I NOTIFIED BAY APCH OF MY INTENTION TO RETURN TO OAKLAND, AND THEY TOLD ME TO CLB TO 2500 FT, FLY TO THE MORMON TEMPLE, THEN MAKE R TFC FOR RWY 27R (THE NORMAL PROC). AFTER REACHING THE TEMPLE, A DIFFERENT CTLR ISSUED INSTRUCTIONS TO FLY TO THE APCH END OF RWY 29, MAINTAIN 2000 FT AND PROCEED TOWARD THE SAN MATEO BRIDGE. THE CTLR WAS VERY BUSY AND I ASSUMED THIS ROUTING WAS THE RESULT. I DID AS INSTRUCTED, EXPECTING FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS, WHEN THE CTLR CALLED (PARAPHRASING) 'DSND TO 1400 FT, RADAR SVC TERMINATED, SQUAWK VFR.' I ASKED WHAT WAS GOING ON. THE CTLR ASKED 'YOU'RE LNDG AT SAN CARLOS, RIGHT?' I REPLIED NO, I WAS LNDG AT OAKLAND. HE TOLD ME TO DO A 180 DEG TURN, DSND TO 1400 FT, AND CALL THE TWR. HE ALSO SAID I WAS IN CLASS B AIRSPACE. I DO NOT KNOW FOR SURE THAT I WAS. I BELIEVE THE PRIMARY ERROR WAS THE CTLR'S IN NOT HANDING ME OFF PROPERLY OR VERIFYING MY DEST. HOWEVER, AS I WAS IN THE VICINITY OF MY DEST ARPT, I WAS NOT ADEQUATELY MONITORING MY POS RELATIVE TO THE SFO CLASS B AIRSPACE. I WAS EXPECTING TO BE TURNED BACK TO OAKLAND MOMENTARILY. WHEN I RECEIVED THE REROUTING, I COULD HAVE QUESTIONED IT, AND RESOLVED THE SIT THEN.
