Narrative:

After attempting the VOR-a approach to eat, wa, we followed the published missed approach procedure. Once established in the hold, the captain contacted dispatch for instructions and I called ATC to report turning outbound and that we were awaiting further instructions from company. At this time, we got a 'terrain, terrain, pull up' indication from the GPWS. I immediately set climb power and turned toward the airport. Out of 5600 ft MSL, the captain called ATC to inform them of the GPWS warning and that we were climbing, and asked for a delay vector. We were assigned heading 090 degrees and 6000 ft. Dispatch rereleased us to sea, and we were cleared wbound, direct eat V120 on course. En route to sea, the captain verified to me our position at the time of the terrain alert to be 3.5 mi north of eat VOR, and upon landing in seattle, wrote up the GPWS in the maintenance log for giving an erroneous warning. We had no other problems with the GPWS en route.
