Narrative:

Controllers were quite busy as traffic was heavy at our arrival time. We had a runway change from runway 22L(?) to runway 27, and were given a visual to follow traffic 3 mi ahead. Several speed reductions down to 170 KTS from the controllers. We were only 3 mi behind our traffic to follow. Conditions were VFR with gusty west winds. We briefed for the possibility of a go around. We were concerned about our proximity to the aircraft in front of us and slowed our aircraft as instructed by ATC. At no time were we notified to contact tower. When we landed, we were still on approach frequency. We quickly switched to tower and tower advised us they had no acknowledgement until that time, and cleared us to cross an active runway then contact ground.

WE WERE CONCERNED ABOUT OUR PROX TO THE ACFT IN FRONT OF US AND SLOWED OUR ACFT AS INSTRUCTED BY ATC. AT NO TIME WERE WE NOTIFIED TO CONTACT TWR. WHEN WE LANDED, WE WERE STILL ON APCH FREQ.
