Narrative:

On STAR, center cleared us to 'descend to FL260 by kerno.' I acknowledged the captain's readback. During descent, captain started a discussion about something. When I checked the STAR chart I mistook 'somto' for 'kerno.' kerno was 30 mi before the next NAVAID, somto was 10 mi. Passing FL280, center asked us our altitude passing. It was then we realized we had missed the crossing restr. Center didn't indicate any conflicts or problems. I've said it before 'check and rechk.'
