Narrative:

A passenger was found smoking in lavatory A5 up to as many as 5 cigarettes. By the time the alarm went off, the lavatory was full of smoke (like fog pea soup). In passenger panic to get out (with alarm going), he threw cigarette butt in trash can. When I forced door open, there was so much smoke I felt panicked. I was surprised to find out no alarm goes off in the cockpit or at the #1 control panel. On an aircraft this large, the smoke alarm should alert other flight attendants and the captain.
