Narrative:

Climbing to 17000 ft MSL with autoplt engaged was reintercepting flight plan radial at time of VOR changeover. Became preoccupied with changeover at time leveloff required. Saw 200-250 ft over assigned altitude and commanded full nose down with autoplt selector. Lag time resulted in approximately 400 ft deviation from assigned. Climb rate approximately 1500 FPM.
