Narrative:

Cockpit instrument indication of oil pressure loss in combination with increase in oil temperature. Returned to land immediately when this occurred. Maintenance duplicated indications on ground after landing was complete. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states that upon maintenance inspection of the oil filter, that it was clogged and that failure of the engine was indeed imminent. The aircraft is a cessna 206B. The flight crew did indeed declare an emergency in this incident.

Title: GOV SMA ON TRAINING MISSION HAS LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE AND HIGH TEMP INDICATIONS, RETURNS TO LAND NEAR HST.

Narrative: COCKPIT INST INDICATION OF OIL PRESSURE LOSS IN COMBINATION WITH INCREASE IN OIL TEMP. RETURNED TO LAND IMMEDIATELY WHEN THIS OCCURRED. MAINT DUPLICATED INDICATIONS ON GND AFTER LNDG WAS COMPLETE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATES THAT UPON MAINT INSPECTION OF THE OIL FILTER, THAT IT WAS CLOGGED AND THAT FAILURE OF THE ENG WAS INDEED IMMINENT. THE ACFT IS A CESSNA 206B. THE FLC DID INDEED DECLARE AN EMER IN THIS INCIDENT.
