Pilot lands at airport where NOTAMS say that tower is closed only to find it open. After following ATC instruction to cancel flight plan on the ground and using CTAF procedures is he made aware of the opening of the tower.

Narrative:
ZFW told us to cancel IFR on the ground at sps or when landing assured. We made a visual approach to runway 33L at sps and broadcasted on sps CTAF with standard calls. After landing, sps tower asked if we were handed off by center. We told them that the tower was closed with information by center and we broadcasted to traffic on CTAF. We were curious why center would have us cancel when the tower was notamed open for the last 30 mins. We did cancel with center on short final. This facility is a joint field with no traffic on the wkend. Better coordination should be utilized by center and tower.

Title: PLT LANDS AT ARPT WHERE NOTAMS SAY THAT TWR IS CLOSED ONLY TO FIND IT OPEN. AFTER FOLLOWING ATC INSTRUCTION TO CANCEL FLT PLAN ON THE GND AND USING CTAF PROCS IS HE MADE AWARE OF THE OPENING OF THE TWR.
Narrative: ZFW TOLD US TO CANCEL IFR ON THE GND AT SPS OR WHEN LNDG ASSURED. WE MADE A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 33L AT SPS AND BROADCASTED ON SPS CTAF WITH STANDARD CALLS. AFTER LNDG, SPS TWR ASKED IF WE WERE HANDED OFF BY CTR. WE TOLD THEM THAT THE TWR WAS CLOSED WITH INFO BY CTR AND WE BROADCASTED TO TFC ON CTAF. WE WERE CURIOUS WHY CTR WOULD HAVE US CANCEL WHEN THE TWR WAS NOTAMED OPEN FOR THE LAST 30 MINS. WE DID CANCEL WITH CTR ON SHORT FINAL. THIS FACILITY IS A JOINT FIELD WITH NO TFC ON THE WKEND. BETTER COORD SHOULD BE UTILIZED BY CTR AND TWR.
