Narrative:

En route to bgr with planned fuel for a part 121 flight and no alternate, based on company approved forecast. Over pwm, learned that company aircraft was holding at pwm due to low visibility. Appeared clear from altitude. Decided to check bgr WX. Learned that current WX was down to less than 1/4 mi with RVR variable between 1600-2000 ft RVR. Based on fuel remaining on board, the crew decided to divert to bos to avoid any unnecessary emergency situation. Flight was diverted to bos and refueled. The flight was then dispatched back to bgr with 2 alternates, based on new amended forecast. We should have been more wary of forecast, based on experience flying in northeast. Crew utilized good judgement and avoided a potentially precarious situation.
