Narrative:

Flying inbound on the 090 degree radial to peach springs. A radar vector 30 degrees left of course was given to increase separation between us and an L1011. Another radar vector to the left 60 degrees was given. The first officer started a left turn, but instead of turning the full 60 degrees he stopped the turn and flew directly to peach springs. The controller noticed that we had not turned to the heading assigned. I, the captain, was off getting the ATIS to lax. ATC immediately turned the additional 30 degrees to the left.
