Narrative:

The flight was from mco to bwi. Our clearance was the mccoy 6 sav J55 af. A takeoff clearance was given on runway 18L. The clearance given included a heading to fly of 200 degrees, which the first officer acknowledged. As the PF, I did not hear the 200 degree heading when issued. Instead, I thought we were given a 140 degree heading, which I flew. The departure was uneventful. During a previous departure 2 hours earlier, we were assigned a 140 degree heading. The aircraft which departed just prior to us was also given that heading. There were some scattered cells to the west. These things perhaps primed me to hear what I wanted to hear. Supplemental information from acn 450490: tower visually cleared us from traffic and just had us continue our left turn to a heading of 200 degrees. We were paying too much attention to the convective activity displayed on the radar and not enough attention to the task at hand. Failure to back up the captain and perform my copilot duties was a primary cause. Simply an unacceptable breakdown of CRM.

Title: AN ACR FLC DOES NOT ADHERE TO THE CLRNC ISSUED AND TURNS TO THE WRONG HDG AFTER DEP FROM MCO, FL.

Narrative: THE FLT WAS FROM MCO TO BWI. OUR CLRNC WAS THE MCCOY 6 SAV J55 AF. A TKOF CLRNC WAS GIVEN ON RWY 18L. THE CLRNC GIVEN INCLUDED A HDG TO FLY OF 200 DEGS, WHICH THE FO ACKNOWLEDGED. AS THE PF, I DID NOT HEAR THE 200 DEG HDG WHEN ISSUED. INSTEAD, I THOUGHT WE WERE GIVEN A 140 DEG HDG, WHICH I FLEW. THE DEP WAS UNEVENTFUL. DURING A PREVIOUS DEP 2 HRS EARLIER, WE WERE ASSIGNED A 140 DEG HDG. THE ACFT WHICH DEPARTED JUST PRIOR TO US WAS ALSO GIVEN THAT HDG. THERE WERE SOME SCATTERED CELLS TO THE W. THESE THINGS PERHAPS PRIMED ME TO HEAR WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 450490: TWR VISUALLY CLRED US FROM TFC AND JUST HAD US CONTINUE OUR L TURN TO A HDG OF 200 DEGS. WE WERE PAYING TOO MUCH ATTN TO THE CONVECTIVE ACTIVITY DISPLAYED ON THE RADAR AND NOT ENOUGH ATTN TO THE TASK AT HAND. FAILURE TO BACK UP THE CAPT AND PERFORM MY COPLT DUTIES WAS A PRIMARY CAUSE. SIMPLY AN UNACCEPTABLE BREAKDOWN OF CRM.
