Narrative:
Approaching the napa county airport (apc), we had excellent view of airport. WX was reported as 800 ft broken, visibility 7 mi. ZOA asked if we could accept a 'visual' approach. We responded 'yes.' they then cleared us for a visual approach and handed us off to tower. When we got on the ground, tower called on landline to ask us why we accepted a 'visual approach' when the control zone was IFR at 800 ft broken, 7 mi visibility. Good point. We let ATC set us up. We should have said 'no, but we can take a contact.'
