Narrative:

Aircraft xyz arrived at ZZZ from WWW on flight XXX on sep/xa/99 with an inbound PIREP of #1 engine egt of 930 degrees C for 1 second on takeoff from WWW. As per jet runup handbook, egt fell in section a. We performed the visual inspections of the cowls, blowout doors, inlet, and exhaust. No visual damage found. Also performed a bite on the #1 engine egt indicator with no errors and reset indicator. Since no cause of overtemp could be found, I notified abc to monitor engine trends for and that a vsv static rig check is required to be done within 20 flight cycles. After aircraft departed, further investigation revealed that aircraft had previous report for same problem with no maintenance action taken within the 20 flight cycle limit. Also a conflict exists between our jet runup handbook and the maintenance manual figure, which requires all the above checks plus the first and second high pressure turbine to be borescoped as well within this 20 cycle limit. Abc has been notified of the above condition to have aircraft discrepancy resolved and have sent a publication revision request to modify our jet runup handbook to conform to the maintenance manual.

Title: A DC10-10 FREIGHTER WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH #1 ENG HIGH EXHAUST GAS TEMP VARIABLE STATOR VANE RIG CHK NOT ACCOMPLISHED.

Narrative: ACFT XYZ ARRIVED AT ZZZ FROM WWW ON FLT XXX ON SEP/XA/99 WITH AN INBOUND PIREP OF #1 ENG EGT OF 930 DEGS C FOR 1 SECOND ON TKOF FROM WWW. AS PER JET RUNUP HANDBOOK, EGT FELL IN SECTION A. WE PERFORMED THE VISUAL INSPECTIONS OF THE COWLS, BLOWOUT DOORS, INLET, AND EXHAUST. NO VISUAL DAMAGE FOUND. ALSO PERFORMED A BITE ON THE #1 ENG EGT INDICATOR WITH NO ERRORS AND RESET INDICATOR. SINCE NO CAUSE OF OVERTEMP COULD BE FOUND, I NOTIFIED ABC TO MONITOR ENG TRENDS FOR AND THAT A VSV STATIC RIG CHK IS REQUIRED TO BE DONE WITHIN 20 FLT CYCLES. AFTER ACFT DEPARTED, FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT ACFT HAD PREVIOUS RPT FOR SAME PROB WITH NO MAINT ACTION TAKEN WITHIN THE 20 FLT CYCLE LIMIT. ALSO A CONFLICT EXISTS BTWN OUR JET RUNUP HANDBOOK AND THE MAINT MANUAL FIGURE, WHICH REQUIRES ALL THE ABOVE CHKS PLUS THE FIRST AND SECOND HIGH PRESSURE TURBINE TO BE BORESCOPED AS WELL WITHIN THIS 20 CYCLE LIMIT. ABC HAS BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE ABOVE CONDITION TO HAVE ACFT DISCREPANCY RESOLVED AND HAVE SENT A PUB REVISION REQUEST TO MODIFY OUR JET RUNUP HANDBOOK TO CONFORM TO THE MAINT MANUAL.
