Narrative:

Given clearance to cross 5 NM northeast of lrp at FL200. Started down and given to next controller who cleared us down to 17000 ft. She asked us why we missed our FL200 limit. Told her we had 10 mi to go. Called supervisor upon landing. He knew nothing about it and said, 'no problem.' both captain and first officer heard and read back 5 NM north of lrp at FL200. ATC supervisor said, generally pilots are given 20 or 25 NM north lrp at FL200.
