Narrative:

On sep/xa/99, I received a call from my company's chief of maintenance informing me that a flight on aug/xa/99 made by me in the above aircraft was after the annual inspection date of jul/xa/99. This aircraft is used by the pilots of our cpr flight department for pleasure and private business flying. It is not used for cpr transport and was not included on a status board or in a computer system as the cpr jets are. I realize that it is the pilot's responsibility to ensure the airworthiness of the aircraft. I have become accustomed to the maintenance department tracking inspection due dates and ensuring compliance. It never occurred to me to check the logbooks of this aircraft. I have spoken with the maintenance chief and the following changes have been made. 1) a status sheet with the necessary inspection information from the logbooks will be carried in the aircraft. 2) a status board will be installed in the maintenance area to monitor this aircraft. 3) a new software program has been purchased that will allow the status of all company aircraft to be monitored, including this one used for personal flying. 4) the chief of maintenance will conduct a training session with all cpr pilots to ensure everyone is aware of the changes being implemented and the importance of ensuring airworthiness prior to flight.
