Narrative:

Runway 13L was assigned for takeoff. Data was computed taking into account first 1000 ft closed and the last 1500 ft closed. Takeoff roll and liftoff were normal with liftoff occurring prior to the last 1500 ft. An airport vehicle reported we infringed on the closed portion. We did not. All performance data supports a liftoff prior to last 1500 ft. In addition, performance data allowed for an abort and stop prior to last 1500 ft. Supplemental information from acn 448066: runway data computed 3 different times for distance available. Flaps 5 degrees selected and a normal profile executed after takeoff clearance received. Upon arrival in ord, informed that we had transgressed a closed portion of runway on departure, as reported to dsm tower by construction workers in vicinity of runway 13L. Blown debris had then caused closure of runway for cleanup. If all data supported our profile, can only guess that B727 profile more shallow than most aircraft departing dsm, and thus blew more debris than they are used to.

Title: A B727 BLOWS DEBRIS FROM A CLOSED PORTION OF RWY 13L DURING TKOF AT DSM, IA.

Narrative: RWY 13L WAS ASSIGNED FOR TKOF. DATA WAS COMPUTED TAKING INTO ACCOUNT FIRST 1000 FT CLOSED AND THE LAST 1500 FT CLOSED. TKOF ROLL AND LIFTOFF WERE NORMAL WITH LIFTOFF OCCURRING PRIOR TO THE LAST 1500 FT. AN ARPT VEHICLE RPTED WE INFRINGED ON THE CLOSED PORTION. WE DID NOT. ALL PERFORMANCE DATA SUPPORTS A LIFTOFF PRIOR TO LAST 1500 FT. IN ADDITION, PERFORMANCE DATA ALLOWED FOR AN ABORT AND STOP PRIOR TO LAST 1500 FT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 448066: RWY DATA COMPUTED 3 DIFFERENT TIMES FOR DISTANCE AVAILABLE. FLAPS 5 DEGS SELECTED AND A NORMAL PROFILE EXECUTED AFTER TKOF CLRNC RECEIVED. UPON ARR IN ORD, INFORMED THAT WE HAD TRANSGRESSED A CLOSED PORTION OF RWY ON DEP, AS RPTED TO DSM TWR BY CONSTRUCTION WORKERS IN VICINITY OF RWY 13L. BLOWN DEBRIS HAD THEN CAUSED CLOSURE OF RWY FOR CLEANUP. IF ALL DATA SUPPORTED OUR PROFILE, CAN ONLY GUESS THAT B727 PROFILE MORE SHALLOW THAN MOST ACFT DEPARTING DSM, AND THUS BLEW MORE DEBRIS THAN THEY ARE USED TO.
