Narrative:

After being vectored for a visual approach to runway 32, we advised ATC (while descending to 2500 ft MSL) that we could not complete the approach and needed more room to descend. ATC cleared us to 4000 ft MSL. We arrested the descent at approximately 2900 ft MSL and began a climb and turn to assigned heading. ATC advised us to climb immediately to 4000 ft MSL, as he had traffic that may conflict (after he turned us). We got a TCASII alert and idented traffic visually and advised ATC. The remaining vectors to approach and the approach and landing were normal.
