Narrative:

Mach overspd clacker triggered during descent on MIP5 arrival. Air carrier abc was asked to make best forward speed while on milton arrival to lga. As indicated, speed approached the limit needle in IAS mode -- IAS wheel was rolled to a slower speed and spoilers were deployed. The aircraft pitched nose down upon full deployment of spoilers and tripped the overspd warning. Autothrottles and autoplt were then disconnected to prevent further pitch down and speed increase. A slight increase from 1 G was felt during this event, which is the reason for this report. Method for a smooth recovery from this unusual circumstance is not taught in the time limited simulator sessions during training, which is now advised.

Title: MD80 CREW HAD PITCH DOWN AT STICK SHAKER.

Narrative: MACH OVERSPD CLACKER TRIGGERED DURING DSCNT ON MIP5 ARR. ACR ABC WAS ASKED TO MAKE BEST FORWARD SPD WHILE ON MILTON ARR TO LGA. AS INDICATED, SPD APCHED THE LIMIT NEEDLE IN IAS MODE -- IAS WHEEL WAS ROLLED TO A SLOWER SPD AND SPOILERS WERE DEPLOYED. THE ACFT PITCHED NOSE DOWN UPON FULL DEPLOYMENT OF SPOILERS AND TRIPPED THE OVERSPD WARNING. AUTOTHROTTLES AND AUTOPLT WERE THEN DISCONNECTED TO PREVENT FURTHER PITCH DOWN AND SPD INCREASE. A SLIGHT INCREASE FROM 1 G WAS FELT DURING THIS EVENT, WHICH IS THE REASON FOR THIS RPT. METHOD FOR A SMOOTH RECOVERY FROM THIS UNUSUAL CIRCUMSTANCE IS NOT TAUGHT IN THE TIME LIMITED SIMULATOR SESSIONS DURING TRAINING, WHICH IS NOW ADVISED.
