Narrative:

The controller working the athens sector, sector 17 is unable to provide safety alerts for VFR aircraft operating within portions of atl approach control airspace. Mode C altitude is being blocked and is not being displayed for VFR aircraft operating within an arc beginning at the atl VOR and extending outwards for 35 mi. The controller working the athens sector routinely takes handoffs and xfer of communications on aircraft operating within this area. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated that since he sent the report, airways facilities has acknowledged the problem and is taking action to fix it.

Title: RPTR STATES THAT AN AREA ADJACENT TO ZTL SECTOR 17, WHICH OVERLIES A PORTION OF ATL APCH HAS BEEN INHIBITED SO VFR MODE C ACFT DO NOT DISPLAY THEIR ALT(S). CTLRS WORKING THIS SECTOR CANNOT STATE THE ALT OF THE VFR ACFT WHEN THEY ISSUE TFC.

Narrative: THE CTLR WORKING THE ATHENS SECTOR, SECTOR 17 IS UNABLE TO PROVIDE SAFETY ALERTS FOR VFR ACFT OPERATING WITHIN PORTIONS OF ATL APCH CTL AIRSPACE. MODE C ALT IS BEING BLOCKED AND IS NOT BEING DISPLAYED FOR VFR ACFT OPERATING WITHIN AN ARC BEGINNING AT THE ATL VOR AND EXTENDING OUTWARDS FOR 35 MI. THE CTLR WORKING THE ATHENS SECTOR ROUTINELY TAKES HDOFS AND XFER OF COMS ON ACFT OPERATING WITHIN THIS AREA. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT SINCE HE SENT THE RPT, AIRWAYS FACILITIES HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROB AND IS TAKING ACTION TO FIX IT.
