Narrative:

Departing atl on the atlanta 4 departure off runway 27R. After takeoff, departure instructed us to leveloff at 6000 ft for traffic. After leveloff we were given an unusual heading of 120 degrees vice the normal 180 degrees. We were then given a climb to 10000 ft. Before leveloff at 10000 ft, we were cleared to 14000 ft (3 times). Passing 10000 ft we passed 2 mi from another airliner. Not sure what happened here. I do not believe we took another aircraft's clearance or flew any incorrect headings or altitudes. Supplemental information from acn 445201: we were given vectors for the atlanta four departure. We were told to stop climb at 6000 ft MSL, which is unusual for this departure. It's normally 10000 ft or 14000 ft MSL. We were then cleared to 14000 ft MSL and a 120 degree heading, (also unusual). Going through 10000 ft MSL, we passed 2 NM in front of another airliner, who was also at 10000 ft MSL. Afterwards, a different controller came on. I believe this could have been avoided if we were either told to expedite our climb or given a different heading.

Title: ACR FINDS THEMSELVES PASSING 2 MI FROM OTHER ACFT WHEN FOLLOWING DEP CTLR INSTRUCTIONS.

Narrative: DEPARTING ATL ON THE ATLANTA 4 DEP OFF RWY 27R. AFTER TKOF, DEP INSTRUCTED US TO LEVELOFF AT 6000 FT FOR TFC. AFTER LEVELOFF WE WERE GIVEN AN UNUSUAL HEADING OF 120 DEGS VICE THE NORMAL 180 DEGS. WE WERE THEN GIVEN A CLB TO 10000 FT. BEFORE LEVELOFF AT 10000 FT, WE WERE CLRED TO 14000 FT (3 TIMES). PASSING 10000 FT WE PASSED 2 MI FROM ANOTHER AIRLINER. NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED HERE. I DO NOT BELIEVE WE TOOK ANOTHER ACFT'S CLRNC OR FLEW ANY INCORRECT HEADINGS OR ALTS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 445201: WE WERE GIVEN VECTORS FOR THE ATLANTA FOUR DEP. WE WERE TOLD TO STOP CLB AT 6000 FT MSL, WHICH IS UNUSUAL FOR THIS DEP. IT'S NORMALLY 10000 FT OR 14000 FT MSL. WE WERE THEN CLRED TO 14000 FT MSL AND A 120 DEG HDG, (ALSO UNUSUAL). GOING THROUGH 10000 FT MSL, WE PASSED 2 NM IN FRONT OF ANOTHER AIRLINER, WHO WAS ALSO AT 10000 FT MSL. AFTERWARDS, A DIFFERENT CTLR CAME ON. I BELIEVE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF WE WERE EITHER TOLD TO EXPEDITE OUR CLB OR GIVEN A DIFFERENT HEADING.
