Narrative:

While on a training flight with an instrument student, cleared to ritts NDB near pae, at 3000 ft. Another aircraft on the NDB approach ahead of us at 2000 ft. As we approached (approximately 2 mi from) NDB in VFR conditions, given additional repeated, actually clearance from center, which student began copying. Also given TA for aircraft on the approach, which I visually located and advised center. Looking back, noted altitude deviation by student to 2800 ft, which we began to correct for. Center called to verify altitude, we advised at that point '2900 ft correcting to 3000 ft.' a short time later we were told to call center reference to a potential conflict. Center advised us they had a conflict alert due to our deviation. No collision hazard, as visual contact separation was maintained at all times, and we immediately corrected for the altitude deviation, when discovered, prior to center's advisory.

Narrative: WHILE ON A TRAINING FLT WITH AN INST STUDENT, CLRED TO RITTS NDB NEAR PAE, AT 3000 FT. ANOTHER ACFT ON THE NDB APCH AHEAD OF US AT 2000 FT. AS WE APCHED (APPROX 2 MI FROM) NDB IN VFR CONDITIONS, GIVEN ADDITIONAL REPEATED, ACTUALLY CLRNC FROM CTR, WHICH STUDENT BEGAN COPYING. ALSO GIVEN TA FOR ACFT ON THE APCH, WHICH I VISUALLY LOCATED AND ADVISED CTR. LOOKING BACK, NOTED ALTDEV BY STUDENT TO 2800 FT, WHICH WE BEGAN TO CORRECT FOR. CTR CALLED TO VERIFY ALT, WE ADVISED AT THAT POINT '2900 FT CORRECTING TO 3000 FT.' A SHORT TIME LATER WE WERE TOLD TO CALL CTR REFERENCE TO A POTENTIAL CONFLICT. CTR ADVISED US THEY HAD A CONFLICT ALERT DUE TO OUR DEV.
