Narrative:

We departed on a proficiency flight and completed 6 approachs and 3 lndgs. During taxi in after the final landing, ground control inquired whether we were squawking a transponder code of 1200. We realized that we had conducted the VFR flight incorrectly squawking the most recent IFR squawk. More vigilance regarding pre takeoff checklist will prevent future occurrences.
