Narrative:

I issued a control instruction to another controller to stop aircraft X at FL330 for traffic at FL350. I received the handoff on aircraft X and the data block reflected FL330. I was distraction when aircraft X checked on my frequency by the supervisor talking to me about in trail spacing and did not hear aircraft X say that his assigned altitude was FL350. The xferring controller had never issued aircraft X FL330 and standard separation was lost.
