Narrative:

The captain requested a route other than filed route and accepted a clearance for route other than the filed route. The crew did not advise dispatch. Dispatch saw an early ETA and sent the flight a request to verify, which they did. Dispatch asked what route they were flying. When dispatch received the information, the data was recalculated and the flight was approximately 3500 pounds overweight for landing. Dispatch spoke to captain on the ground in sjo, captain said he was aware he was overweight and took necessary steps to correct.

Title: AN AIRLINE DISPATCHER WAS NOT ADVISED OF A NEW RTE UTILIZED BY THE FLC.

Narrative: THE CAPT REQUESTED A RTE OTHER THAN FILED RTE AND ACCEPTED A CLRNC FOR RTE OTHER THAN THE FILED RTE. THE CREW DID NOT ADVISE DISPATCH. DISPATCH SAW AN EARLY ETA AND SENT THE FLT A REQUEST TO VERIFY, WHICH THEY DID. DISPATCH ASKED WHAT RTE THEY WERE FLYING. WHEN DISPATCH RECEIVED THE INFO, THE DATA WAS RECALCULATED AND THE FLT WAS APPROX 3500 LBS OVERWT FOR LNDG. DISPATCH SPOKE TO CAPT ON THE GND IN SJO, CAPT SAID HE WAS AWARE HE WAS OVERWT AND TOOK NECESSARY STEPS TO CORRECT.
