Narrative:

On takeoff roll, right before liftoff, a burning type smell was noticeable in the cockpit. After we were safely airborne, the purser let us know that the odor was very noticeable in the cabin, and passenger were distressed. We eventually resolved the problem, but what impressed me was the purser's handling of the problem. His input to us was concise and clear, his PA's to the passenger were excellent and very reassuring. He worked very well with the other flight attendants to help us solve the problem and to calm the passenger. He would probably say that he was only doing his job, but I believe that his work was above and beyond just doing the job.
