Narrative:

During our approach to runway 30L at msp, the cargo smoke warning light illuminated. As per our company's QRH, we activated the cargo fire extinguisher. After activating the cargo extinguisher the cargo smoke warning light extinguished. I elected not to declare an emergency nor request crash fire rescue equipment and evacuate/evacuation the aircraft. I did elect to taxi to the gate prior to checking the cargo compartment due to the fact that the cargo smoke warning light had extinguished and there was no report from the flight attendant of smoke in the passenger cabin. Upon reaching the gate I inspected the cargo compartment and found no signs of smoke or indications that there had been a fire.
