Narrative:

Dfw approach control, 3000 ft. Dfw TRACON. Location: denton airport, tx. On vectors for runway 18R ILS we were descended to 3000 ft MSL. At 3000 ft we were approximately 1/2 mi east of the denton airport. After review of the airspace chart, I noticed that in that area 4000 ft MSL is the floor of the airspace. After landing, I called dfw TRACON and asked about being vectored below class B airspace and the supervisor replied that this was normal while running triple ILS approachs. This could be a threat to safety -- especially on a sunday with numerous GA traffic in the area. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states that since he also flies small aircraft, he is very familiar with the denton and dfw class B airspace. He is also aware that the controller is required to tell the flight crew when being vectored outside class B and again when entering class B airspace. In the reported incident, this notification never took place.

Title: S80 ON APCH FOR DFW IS VECTORED OUTSIDE OF CLASS B AIRSPACE.

Narrative: DFW APCH CTL, 3000 FT. DFW TRACON. LOCATION: DENTON ARPT, TX. ON VECTORS FOR RWY 18R ILS WE WERE DSNDED TO 3000 FT MSL. AT 3000 FT WE WERE APPROX 1/2 MI E OF THE DENTON ARPT. AFTER REVIEW OF THE AIRSPACE CHART, I NOTICED THAT IN THAT AREA 4000 FT MSL IS THE FLOOR OF THE AIRSPACE. AFTER LNDG, I CALLED DFW TRACON AND ASKED ABOUT BEING VECTORED BELOW CLASS B AIRSPACE AND THE SUPVR REPLIED THAT THIS WAS NORMAL WHILE RUNNING TRIPLE ILS APCHS. THIS COULD BE A THREAT TO SAFETY -- ESPECIALLY ON A SUNDAY WITH NUMEROUS GA TFC IN THE AREA. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATES THAT SINCE HE ALSO FLIES SMALL ACFT, HE IS VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE DENTON AND DFW CLASS B AIRSPACE. HE IS ALSO AWARE THAT THE CTLR IS REQUIRED TO TELL THE FLC WHEN BEING VECTORED OUTSIDE CLASS B AND AGAIN WHEN ENTERING CLASS B AIRSPACE. IN THE RPTED INCIDENT, THIS NOTIFICATION NEVER TOOK PLACE.
