Narrative:

At approximately XX00Z I left salem airpark (38D) with a student on a training flight to yng. During our approach to runway 5 at yng, we were cleared for a touch-and-go on runway 5. At this time I was unaware of another aircraft that was cleared for a landing on runway 32, nor was I advised. Upon completing the landing, I observed traffic on short final on the intersecting runway 32. I elected to abort the takeoff roll and hold short of the intersecting runway 32 for fear there would be a collision. We were flying a C152 and the other aircraft involved was an L1011. At that time the L1011 was instructed to go around. I believe the factor that contributed to this potentially dangerous situation was the tower controller's failure to advise each pilot of the other's existence and position. The tower operator assumed that he could make the situation work. I feel the tower operator should not have brought 2 aircraft in such close proximity and should have advised the 2 pilots of the other traffic.

Title: INSTRUCTOR PLT IN A C152 INSTRUCTED STUDENT TO REJECT TKOF DURING A TOUCH-AND-GO DUE TO OBSERVING AN L1011 APCHING TO LAND ON AN INTERSECTING RWY.

Narrative: AT APPROX XX00Z I LEFT SALEM AIRPARK (38D) WITH A STUDENT ON A TRAINING FLT TO YNG. DURING OUR APCH TO RWY 5 AT YNG, WE WERE CLRED FOR A TOUCH-AND-GO ON RWY 5. AT THIS TIME I WAS UNAWARE OF ANOTHER ACFT THAT WAS CLRED FOR A LNDG ON RWY 32, NOR WAS I ADVISED. UPON COMPLETING THE LNDG, I OBSERVED TFC ON SHORT FINAL ON THE INTERSECTING RWY 32. I ELECTED TO ABORT THE TKOF ROLL AND HOLD SHORT OF THE INTERSECTING RWY 32 FOR FEAR THERE WOULD BE A COLLISION. WE WERE FLYING A C152 AND THE OTHER ACFT INVOLVED WAS AN L1011. AT THAT TIME THE L1011 WAS INSTRUCTED TO GO AROUND. I BELIEVE THE FACTOR THAT CONTRIBUTED TO THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SIT WAS THE TWR CTLR'S FAILURE TO ADVISE EACH PLT OF THE OTHER'S EXISTENCE AND POS. THE TWR OPERATOR ASSUMED THAT HE COULD MAKE THE SIT WORK. I FEEL THE TWR OPERATOR SHOULD NOT HAVE BROUGHT 2 ACFT IN SUCH CLOSE PROX AND SHOULD HAVE ADVISED THE 2 PLTS OF THE OTHER TFC.
