Narrative:

I was flying the aircraft while the captain and so were monitoring VHF #2 obtaining our oceanic clearance from shanwick clearance delivery. I was instructed by london control to climb to FL240. I confirmed the clearance and proceeded to continue to climb the aircraft to that assigned altitude. I was also instructed to turn to a vector heading of 360 degrees. At approximately 23000 ft MSL, a TCASII TA occurred followed by an RA which instructed me to descend the aircraft. I disengaged the autoplt and hand flew the aircraft into a descent. When we were clear of the conflict we contacted london control and informed the controller of our actions. We were then cleared by the controller to maintain FL220. There was no other evasive action taken, and the flight proceeded normally. The conflicting aircraft was never seen visually nor did I hear any other aircraft take evasive action.

Title: DC10 FLC FOLLOWS TCASII RA WHILE CLBING TO ASSIGNED ALT.

Narrative: I WAS FLYING THE ACFT WHILE THE CAPT AND SO WERE MONITORING VHF #2 OBTAINING OUR OCEANIC CLRNC FROM SHANWICK CLRNC DELIVERY. I WAS INSTRUCTED BY LONDON CTL TO CLB TO FL240. I CONFIRMED THE CLRNC AND PROCEEDED TO CONTINUE TO CLB THE ACFT TO THAT ASSIGNED ALT. I WAS ALSO INSTRUCTED TO TURN TO A VECTOR HDG OF 360 DEGS. AT APPROX 23000 FT MSL, A TCASII TA OCCURRED FOLLOWED BY AN RA WHICH INSTRUCTED ME TO DSND THE ACFT. I DISENGAGED THE AUTOPLT AND HAND FLEW THE ACFT INTO A DSCNT. WHEN WE WERE CLR OF THE CONFLICT WE CONTACTED LONDON CTL AND INFORMED THE CTLR OF OUR ACTIONS. WE WERE THEN CLRED BY THE CTLR TO MAINTAIN FL220. THERE WAS NO OTHER EVASIVE ACTION TAKEN, AND THE FLT PROCEEDED NORMALLY. THE CONFLICTING ACFT WAS NEVER SEEN VISUALLY NOR DID I HEAR ANY OTHER ACFT TAKE EVASIVE ACTION.
