Narrative:

Captain flying aircraft. During ATC cleared descent at approximately 13000 ft, advised by ATC to expedite descent to 11000 ft as cleared. At 12500 ft a target appeared to left of aircraft 1 mi or less. The target was 500 ft below us when a climb RA was initiated by the captain. The climb continued till clear of conflict. ATC was advised controller said thanks.
