Narrative:

Dispatched from msp en route ewr with #2 bleed system MEL and disabled. Normal takeoff and climb to FL180 when ECAM message alerted #1 bleed air fault. Stopped climb and requested and commenced descent to 10000 ft. Reset bleed system per company operations manual and consulted dispatch/maintenance control. Agreed to continue to ewr at FL230. Began climb to FL230 when bleed fault recurred approximately FL180. Requested and received clearance to 10000 ft. Requested ATC clearance to msp. Operated APU as source for air conditioning and ventilation. Descended to 8000 ft and returned msp unpressurized. Landed without further incident.
