Narrative:

I departed from work at 45 mi southwest of fai. WX looked good and improving. Fai ATIS reported 10 mi visibility and 7500 ft ceilings (well within VFR flight). At 10-15 mi out I encountered fog, haze, etc (basically a front). I turned around but became boxed in by it. I lost my radial to fai at the same time. I climbed, I descended, I tried to get out of it. When I realized I couldn't, I called fai approach, and they then gave me headings and altitudes to runway 1L. I listened to their instructions and got home safely!
