Narrative:

The new seat modification on MD80 hasn't been incorporated into the maintenance manual, wiring manual, modification book or work cards. Specifically the confign of light lens and locations. In order to perform the emergency light check this is critical. After 12 hours of discussion with maintenance technician we obtained written authority/authorized for lights to be located on the seats but no confign drawings. Due to good condition of new seats and lens, I felt that the aircraft was serviceable and signed the a-chk with the shift supervisor.
