Narrative:

I was returning from myrtle beach. The WX and visibility were good, 10 mi visibility, ceiling unlimited. When I reach acy the WX got bad, ceiling 2000 ft with lots of fog at lower levels. At this time acy was IMC, so I did a 180 degree turn and headed back to cape may (wwd) which was clear at the time, ceiling unlimited, visibility 4 mi. I and a fellow pilot, who landed at wwd for the same reason, called FSS and obtained a WX briefing. Things looked good, 2/10-4/10 mi broken. I departed wwd for cedar lake (vcn) VOR. As I approached the VOR, ceilings had gone down to 1000 ft or less, so I headed northwest to stay VFR. At this point I may have strayed into phl class B airspace. On my way northeast, I landed at lakewood (N12) and waited there 1 hour and got another WX briefing from bdr FSS. Ceilings lifted to 3000 ft, 3 mi visibility, in very hazy conditions. I did make it back to bdr safely. What I should have done was stayed overnight at wwd until the WX improved. It would have relieved a lot of stress.
