Narrative:

We were cleared to pvd via swann 2 departure. We were cleared for takeoff. I thought that the tower controller had told us to fly runway heading. The departure calls for a left turn at 3 DME to 150 degrees. We flew runway heading. When we were switched to departure control, he was upset that we had not turned. He issued a turn to 110 degrees to intercept the departure. There was no traffic conflict. We had taken off on this runway 2 other times on this trip, and had been given runway heading on one departure. We were given a turn to 150 degrees on the other.
