Narrative:

Air carrier flight xnn, en route from ont to iln, received a SELCAL from our flight operation, asking us if we were in radio contact. And of course we were. Our company flight, xyn, was right in front of us, and what I believed happened was that we got switched to the wrong frequency by ARTCC thinking we were xyn instead of xnn. ZKC said that they could not get a hold of us for about 1 hour. We were always in contact with ATC. ZID got our flight numbers mixed up. We caught the error by confirming 'you want flight xnn to switch frequencys?'
