Narrative:

The controller cleared us to FL390 and turn right to a heading of 130 degrees for vectors to daily intersection. I responded with climb to FL390 and right turn to 130 degrees, vectors to daily. Shortly we were cleared direct daily intersection. Proceeding direct to daily and passing through FL205, the controller asked what altitude we were, I told him FL205. He came back with, stop climb and descend to FL190. We complied. Shortly after the controller told us to contact ZDC. We contacted ZDC and he cleared us to FL230. I responded with, departing FL190 climb to FL230. Nothing further was said.
