Narrative:

The co-captain was flying from the left seat. We were on a descent for landing at sdf and given a clearance to cross 30 NM northwest of maize intersection at 11000 ft and 250 KTS. We programmed the FMS for the descent and continued down to an assigned altitude of 11000 ft. We were talking about the upcoming purchase of a new plane for the company when I noticed that we were about 20 mi from maize intersection at 11000 ft but we were still going 350 KIAS. I told the PF that we were supposed to be at 250 KTS. He said that he forgot, and immediately reduced his speed to 250 KTS. There were no other aircraft in our area and nothing showing up on TCASII. My suggestion is to keep the office out of the cockpit once you're straight out of altitude for the airport and keep your mind on the plane.

Narrative: THE CO-CAPT WAS FLYING FROM THE L SEAT. WE WERE ON A DSCNT FOR LNDG AT SDF AND GIVEN A CLRNC TO CROSS 30 NM NW OF MAIZE INTXN AT 11000 FT AND 250 KTS. WE PROGRAMMED THE FMS FOR THE DSCNT AND CONTINUED DOWN TO AN ASSIGNED ALT OF 11000 FT. WE WERE TALKING ABOUT THE UPCOMING PURCHASE OF A NEW PLANE FOR THE COMPANY WHEN I NOTICED THAT WE WERE ABOUT 20 MI FROM MAIZE INTXN AT 11000 FT BUT WE WERE STILL GOING 350 KIAS. I TOLD THE PF THAT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE AT 250 KTS. HE SAID THAT HE FORGOT, AND IMMEDIATELY REDUCED HIS SPD TO 250 KTS. THERE WERE NO OTHER ACFT IN OUR AREA AND NOTHING SHOWING UP ON TCASII. MY SUGGESTION IS TO KEEP THE OFFICE OUT OF THE COCKPIT ONCE YOU'RE STRAIGHT OUT OF ALT FOR THE ARPT AND KEEP YOUR MIND ON THE PLANE.
