Narrative:

I departed from sgr airport en route to gls airport. I was piloting a cessna 182. It was an uneventful flight to gls. As I approached the gls airport, approximately 5 mi northwest of the airport, I started my descent to land, directly straight ahead on runway 13. I was continuously announcing my position to gls traffic. On final, I noticed my speed was above the normal landing speed. I then went to 30% flaps and pulled back the throttle to slow the aircraft. As I had the nose down, lined up to the numbers, I allowed the nose of the plane to descend too low, front tire exploding on impact. I then tried to keep the front wheel assembly off the pavement to the best of my ability until the plane came to a stop with the engine running. Most if not all the damage occurred on impact, tire exploding, allowing nose to descend and propellers hitting the pavement. I then called the gls maintenance crew to tow the aircraft off runway 13 to a terminal spot where I tied it down. The incident was caused by excessive speed in the landing confign. To correct this situation from ever happening again is to slow the aircraft down to the speed indicated in the poh, before attempting landing. If that cannot be done in sufficient time, then a go around should be implemented as soon as possible.

Title: C182 BLOWS NOSE GEAR TIRE DURING HARD LNDG AT GLS.

Narrative: I DEPARTED FROM SGR ARPT ENRTE TO GLS ARPT. I WAS PILOTING A CESSNA 182. IT WAS AN UNEVENTFUL FLT TO GLS. AS I APCHED THE GLS ARPT, APPROX 5 MI NW OF THE ARPT, I STARTED MY DSCNT TO LAND, DIRECTLY STRAIGHT AHEAD ON RWY 13. I WAS CONTINUOUSLY ANNOUNCING MY POS TO GLS TFC. ON FINAL, I NOTICED MY SPD WAS ABOVE THE NORMAL LNDG SPD. I THEN WENT TO 30% FLAPS AND PULLED BACK THE THROTTLE TO SLOW THE ACFT. AS I HAD THE NOSE DOWN, LINED UP TO THE NUMBERS, I ALLOWED THE NOSE OF THE PLANE TO DSND TOO LOW, FRONT TIRE EXPLODING ON IMPACT. I THEN TRIED TO KEEP THE FRONT WHEEL ASSEMBLY OFF THE PAVEMENT TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY UNTIL THE PLANE CAME TO A STOP WITH THE ENG RUNNING. MOST IF NOT ALL THE DAMAGE OCCURRED ON IMPACT, TIRE EXPLODING, ALLOWING NOSE TO DSND AND PROPS HITTING THE PAVEMENT. I THEN CALLED THE GLS MAINT CREW TO TOW THE ACFT OFF RWY 13 TO A TERMINAL SPOT WHERE I TIED IT DOWN. THE INCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY EXCESSIVE SPD IN THE LNDG CONFIGN. TO CORRECT THIS SIT FROM EVER HAPPENING AGAIN IS TO SLOW THE ACFT DOWN TO THE SPD INDICATED IN THE POH, BEFORE ATTEMPTING LNDG. IF THAT CANNOT BE DONE IN SUFFICIENT TIME, THEN A GAR SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED ASAP.
