Narrative:

We had joined the runway 9L localizer at fll and had just been cleared for the visual approach when I noticed a target on our TCASII at 2 O'clock and a little over 1 mi. I acquired the target visually and it was obvious that we needed to take evasive action. The aircraft in question was northbound at our altitude, so I started a level right turn to put our nose behind the traffic. In the turn, fll approach gave us a traffic alert at the same time as the TCASII gave us an RA (climb). The autoplt was not in use, so I started a climb. The aircraft was in sight at all times. We gained 300 ft in our evasive maneuver, turned 20 degrees south of course. When clear of conflict we were reclred for the visual approach and the landing was uneventful. Approach was advised that we were following an RA.
