Narrative:
At approximately 30-40 mi from dtw we experienced an engine vibration. I followed our QRH trying to identify which engine was the problem. I notified maintenance for our company. I was turning on a 10 mi final when they told me not to shut down the engine.

Title: AN SF340 FLC LANDS AT DTW WITH AN ENG VIBRATION FROM AN UNKNOWN SOURCE. MAINT HAD ADVISED THE CAPT TO 'NOT SHUT THE ENG DOWN' WHILE ON A 10 MI FINAL.
Narrative: AT APPROX 30-40 MI FROM DTW WE EXPERIENCED AN ENG VIBRATION. I FOLLOWED OUR QRH TRYING TO IDENT WHICH ENG WAS THE PROB. I NOTIFIED MAINT FOR OUR COMPANY. I WAS TURNING ON A 10 MI FINAL WHEN THEY TOLD ME NOT TO SHUT DOWN THE ENG.
