On takeoff after gear retraction, experienced loss of right hydraulic system pressure and quantity. Flew departure to approximately 35 mi from dfw. Complied with checklist and conferred with company maintenance and returned to dfw. Remainder of flight uneventful. Declared an emergency and requested emergency vehicle standby upon landing. Returned aircraft to the gate.
