Narrative:

We experienced no communication from center. Advised by company by ACARS to contact ZNY on different frequency. We were able to contact on third attempt. Able to make contact approximately 6 more times/different frequencys. Before second failure of communication over lrp, we passed 1000 ft below and about 2 mi north of a B747. No conflict. Made blind call on 121.5 to raise dca tower, who gave us a good frequency. No further loss of radio landing phl. On descent through FL260 and through 16000 ft we had a ground proximity alert (vicinity of lrp). On arrival in phl, we advised company of problems. They replaced a unit and cleared us to go to pit. No further radio loss or GPWS warning.
