Narrative:

After landing we suspected the left brakes were dragging. I asked ground control, at the captain's direction to send the fire trucks to the gate. Ground control wanted us to stay where we were and he would send the trucks. We asked to taxi to the gate, and the request was approved. At the gate, 5 or 10 mins after the passenger were off the brakes caught fire. Maybe we should not have taxied all the way to the gate and instead evacuate/evacuationed the aircraft on the dark taxiway in the rain.
