Narrative:

Location: ramp at dtw. Just prior to pushback, an alert ground crewman informed me that a small quantity of mercury was rolling around the aft cargo compartment. I viewed this and it appeared to be about 1/4 inch in diameter. Hazmat team called in to remove mercury and check aircraft. We ferried this aircraft to sdf the next morning after required inspections were apparently performed. Nothing else to report.
