Narrative:

On an assigned altitude, below a scattered layer, proceeding direct to vld, we received a TA from the tcasi. I looked out for the traffic and spotted it at our altitude and less than 2 mi, moving toward us. I initiated a turn to the right, and passed the other aircraft by approximately 1/2 mi. The controller was questioned about the aircraft, and if he had the other aircraft on radar. He said the aircraft was VFR, being handled by moody AFB approach control. When questioned further about why we were not given a traffic alert by ATC until after the tcasi went off, the captain was instructed to call the watch supervisor at moody approach. We were then cleared for a visual approach to the vld airport. Supplemental information from acn 426927: when I questioned the controller about it, he said that if I had a problem I needed to call his supervisor about it.
